Martin's Painting & Decorating, Inc.

This long time Bloomington painter was founded in 1976 as a part-time business by R. Paul
Martin who was an industrial arts teacher at Normal Community High School. In 1978 R. Paul left his teaching job and went into the painting business full time.

R.  Paul was mainly a one man Bloomington painter with some part-time help from former students. As the
four Martin children grew older, each was introduced to the business end of a paint brush. Father and children painted together until the children left home.

In 1994 R. Paul and his only son J. Paul became full partners and formed a corporation. R. Paul became responsible for the Peoria division while J. Paul is the Bloomington/ Normal painter. The company has painted for several different contractors over the years and has painted some of the finest homes and businesses in the Bloomington/Normal and Peoria areas.

Twelve years ago, the growing company bought an old grocery store in Hudson and began a shop
operation. In March of 2003, that building was sold and a commercial building was bought on Gill Street in Bloomington. The new building consists of several offices, a conference area, and a break room in
addition to the shop area.

As the new housing market has continued to expand in both Bloomington/Normal and Peoria, the work
force has grown proportionally. Due to the seasonal nature of new construction, the company employs a work force of between six and twelve employees depending on the time of year.

Martin’s Painting and Decorating, Inc. wishes to thank both the Bloomington/Normal and Peoria
areas for their business over the years. We plan on continuing to be a company of integrity giving an honest day’s work for a fair wage.
